• Use a long stroke on the long note
• Rebalance with finger leverage to keep consistent tone near the tip
• Lift the bow and reset near the frog during the rest
• Rebalance and relax during the rest
• Make the upbow 8th consistent in tone and dynamic
• Tempo and dynamic will govern the size of strokes
• Keep rhythm correct; subdivide by 8ths
• Style may require the upbow to start from the string but finish off the string.
• Common mistake: starting the upbow where the downbow finished
