• Clear attacks– think “T” or “K”
• No “crunch” at the release
• Relax entire arm between strokes
• Dots not always given, depending on musical style and era
• In Suzuki parlance, the “Hot dog” 8ths are Staccato
• Martelé term applied to accented, “hammered” style with added weight just before the start of the stroke
