• Dots are not always given
• Played near the balance point of the bow
• Small strokes that leave the string
• Be aware of the natural springiness of the bow and string– that the bounce is done largely by the them
• Control the distance that the bow travels off the string
• A “dry” sound comes from a V-shaped path on and off
• A”brushed” sound comes from a Ushaped path
• Check for tension in the bow fingers, especially the pinky
• Flexible fingers can cushion the process
• Minimize noise
